Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field with a valid Georgia teaching certificat
Highly qualified to teach class assigned as defined by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC)
Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers
Access to a personal computer and reliable internet
Duties:
- Implement writing curriculum as embedded in ELA courses
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently using system rubrics and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning
- Work collaboratively with other writing instructors to develop writing rubrics for ELA courses
- Work collaboratively with other writing instructors to increase consistency in scoring
- Provide feedback to students regarding improvement in their writing
- Remediate students’ writing deficiencies
- Assist students in preparation for constructed responses in Milestones testing
- Support Foothills’ commitment to mastery learning
- Participate in system and local efforts of professional learning; teachers will utilize and implement skills and best practices obtained in professional learning in the classroom to raise the achievement of students
- Support students with encouragement
- Utilize time effectively
- Effectively manage the behavior of learners to ensure the environment is conducive to the learning process and assist in the management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds
- Work in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned; teachers will work collaboratively in horizontal and vertical teams on a frequent basis to review assessment data and modify instruction to improve student achievement
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate student grade records and attendance records
- Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student progress and behavior
- Support and/or participate in school-wide student activities, social events, and fundraisers
- Effectively supervise teacher assistant performance, if applicable
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, professional learning, and other training working through the site director and/or curriculum director and apply concepts learned in the classroom to increase student learning
